Lee Iksop

Honorary professor of Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University

Dr. Lee Iksop is a Honorary professor of Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University.
He served as the 4th Director General of the National Institute of the Korean Language(now the National Institute of Korean Language), the chairperson of the Korean Language Globalization Foundation, and the chairperson of the Korean Language Council. He established the system of modern Korean grammar by writing ‘Introduction of Korean Language(국어학개설)’ and ‘Theory of Korean Grammar(국어문법론)’ and established the theory of Korean orthography and the theory of Korean letter through ‘Korean orthography research(국어 표기법 연구)’ that investigates the changes in the modern Korean orthography. In addition, he published ‘Korean Language(한국의 언어)’, the book introducing Korean grammar for foreigners, in several languages which greatly contributed to the globalization of Korean grammar academically and educationally. In 2014 he earned the Academic Award of the Sejong Culture Prize and he published ‘Gangneung Dialect Resource Dictionary(강릉 방언 자료 사전)’ in 2022 to let the public know the value of dialects.
Lera Boroditsky

Professor of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego

Dr. Lera Boroditsky is a Professor of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego.
She previously served on the faculty at MIT and at Stanford and as editor in chief of Frontiers in Cultural Psychology. Her research is on the relationships between mind, world and language (or how humans get so smart). Her TED talk on how language shapes thinking has been viewed more than 17 million times. Boroditsky has been named one of 25 visionaries changing the world by the Utne Reader, and is also a Searle Scholar, a McDonnell scholar, recipient of an NSF Career award and an APA Distinguished Scientist lecturer.
